The 1st Shift Distribution Assistant Supervisor at BDC, WC1 or WC2 is responsible for ensuring that the Distribution Forklift Operators have been trained for safety, quality, and housekeeping in a timely manner. He or she will make sure that these employees use proper techniques or procedures to perform their jobs in accordance with the established Suncast guidelines. The Assistant Supervisor must be available to work overtime, and weekends as required.
Responsibilities:
The following duties are considered essential to this position. Other responsibilities may be assigned.
Monitor and check daily functions of union employees for safety, accuracy, and on-time performance.
Guide employees on the proper techniques or procedures needed to perform their functions on a daily basis. Ensure they use them.
Assist the Supervisors. Must be able to perform in their absence.
Know and understand fully the RMS (Resource and Labor Management) system.
Prioritize weekend workflow.
Report and record any inventory discrepancies.
Control the inbound shuttle flow in priority sequence.
Hand out and monitor the flow of all the outbound orders in priority sequence which includes the PCL orders.
Monitor the Plant 3 (3WR) location to ensure we are putting away the product produced in Plant 3 manufacturing.
Ensure to monitor emails for parts requests from the plant and respond in a timely manner.
Ensure to pick replenishments for the plant and zone 4 areas daily.
Attend the shift change meetings before and after the assigned shift.
Assist in performing inventory counts and warehouse moves as needed.
Ensure orders are prepared following special instructions.
Ensure the timely and accurate closure of receipts.
Manage yard spotters to ensure distribution center moves are completed timely and efficiently.
Ensure CPICK location is clean on a daily basis.
Investigate and correct inventory inaccuracies (ex: invalid pallets).
Attend all Suncast training classes or seminars as required by your immediate supervisor.
Maintain a professional manner at all times with internal and external customers, along with fellow employees, peers, and management.
Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times. Suncast policies have been developed to ensure compliance with employee law.
Understand the operational flow of the Distribution department, as well as the system.
Although this position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, this position does require strong leadership skills since the Distribution Assistant Supervisor will oversee the work of and occasionally train other union employees.
Qualifications:

One year of Suncast distribution forklift experience or related external experience required; three years preferred.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to clearly and effectively present information before the group that he or she trains. Ability to communicate with the hourly workforce is required. This may require fluency in a secondary language. At this time the secondary language is Spanish. Bilingual a plus.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Advanced skills with the programs used by the Suncast forklift operators. This includes RF scanner use, data entry, and the processing system. Ability to learn new systems as they are implemented. Advanced skills with the Softeon program.

This is a physically active position in a distribution facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, stoop, or kneel. The employee must be capable of using a forklift in a safe and efficient manner. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a warehouse facility. This location will have seasonal variations in temperature and humidity. Noise level is moderate for a warehouse facility. Safety equipment will be worn regularly.
The Anticipated Pay Range for This Position: $18.50-$21.00 hourly
