Description
Registers and screens all categories of blood donors and patients. Collects whole blood from donors and patients. Ensures donor eligibility, performs phlebotomy, provides post-donation care, and adheres to all safety and regulatory guidelines. This role plays a critical part in enhancing the donor experience by providing exceptional customer service, ensuring a comfortable and positive donation process, and fostering long-term donor relationships. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to create a welcoming environment and encourage repeat donations.
*No experience in phlebotomy is required, Suncoast Blood Centers provides a complete and comprehensive training program.
JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets and registers donors and patients.
- Determines donor eligibility based on established guidelines.
- Performs phlebotomy procedures for whole blood collection.
- Provides post-donation care and instructions, including management of adverse reactions.
- Ensures proper storage of blood and prepares units for transport.
- Conducts routine quality control, maintenance, and validation of equipment.
- Reports equipment malfunctions or deviations to the crew chief.
- Monitors inventory levels and reports supply needs.
- Meets established collection goals.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Participates in safety training and compliance activities.
- Other duties as assigned to support Suncoast Blood Centers' mission and vision.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Performs other related duties as necessary to support Suncoast Blood Centers' mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in phlebotomy, medical field, customer service, or an equivalent field.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong verbal communication skills, including person-to-person and phone interactions.
- Ability to manage stress and make decisions under pressure.
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in basic data entry and record-keeping.
- Problem-solving and reasoning skills.
Licenses/Certifications:
- None required.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License with a clean driving record and reliable transportation preferred.
