POSITION TITLE : PODIATRY PROGRAM ASSISTANT
FLSA : NON- EXEMPT
Job Summary :
The Podiatry Program Assistant serves as the point of contact for podiatry patients, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring proper communication and documentation for care. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
Duties / Responsibilities :
Schedule, confirm, and manage appointments for podiatry provider.Coordinate with Suncoast Referral Department Coordinators and non-Suncoast PCPs to ensure referrals and pre-authorizations are completed properly and have not expired.Communicate with patients when a new referral is required from their Primary Care Provider.Manage podiatry referrals in accordance with the organization's policy.Responsible for verifying insurance and obtaining additional pre-authorizations as needed for the Podiatry schedules at each clinic to include clinic and hospital procedures, injectables and treatments.Liaise with non-Suncoast PCP's for additional information or documents needed.Ensure Progress Notes are sent to non-Suncoast PCP's in a timely manner.Coordinate surgical scheduling in hospitals, ensuring that accurate and complete paperwork is submitted prior to procedure.Communicate Podiatry changes and updates with Supervisor and all Clinic Administrators.Manage the Podiatry Referral Bucket for all facilities to include making outbound patient calls for appointments.Communicate with the Call Center to answer scheduling questions and address patient concerns.Contact Podiatrist and / or Podiatry MA to address urgent patient concerns.Create and respond to Telephone Encounters in a timely manner.Follow-up on missed appointments, cancellations, and rescheduling of patient appointments.Ensure accuracy of self-pay claims.Communicate with Billing Department regarding insurance reimbursements.Perform additional tasks as needed to support the centers.Required Skills / Abilities :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Ability to perform precise manipulations through the regular use of office equipment, including computers, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, calculators, and more.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and related software.Demonstration of the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.Education and Experience :
High School Diploma required.Experience with verifying insurance eligibility and scheduling preferred.Physical Requirements :
