The Accounts Payable Specialist inputs and processes various accounts payable invoices, employee reimbursements, and petty cash transactions. This individual follows all Accounting Department policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Review and process invoices from the time of receipt to payment or mailing
- Verify billing accuracy and determine general ledger account distribution
- Scan and index invoices into the workflow approval software
- Create new vendor profiles in the accounts payable system
- Process employee reimbursements, petty cash, and general ledger transactions
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts
- Assist the internal and external auditors with accounts payable functions
- Process year-end 1099 file for Internal Revenue Service
- Adhere to the Accounting Department policies and procedures for the processing, payment, and reimbursement of invoices
- Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more years of accounts payable experience
- Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
- Proficient knowledge and understanding of the credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties
- Must be proficient in excel
- Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
- Ability to communicate information requiring explanation or interpretation
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
