Manager of Application Development

Overview

Compensation: $120,000- $160,000 anually ( based on experience and credentials)

Location Type: Remote ( Candidate must reside in one of several remote work states)

The Manager of Application Development balances business and technological capabilities to provide input to the vision, strategy, and architecture of plans to enable the credit union to reach its business objectives. This individual is responsible for the overall operation of the Application Development Department across all verticals, including overseeing the design, implementation, and support of software/web interface applications and database integration services to support department procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage the overall operation of Application Development Department
• Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, descriptions, and information to illustrate target architecture
• Guide the strategic direction of architecture to maximize automation opportunities and positively impact application performance
• Manage all project development through the Software Development Lifecycle
• Collaborate with the central development team, internal content owners, and external contractors to develop web-based solutions and complete maintenance assignments
• Develop knowledge of the host and other core system connectivity capabilities and utilize knowledge to develop integrated solutions to other applicable software and databases
• Conduct hands-on programming to maintain programming skills
• Troubleshoot programming problems by reading and interpreting programming codes
• Participate in the regular review of best practices and obtain the necessary certifications to contribute to the overall evolution of the department
• Recommend Suncoast Credit Union E-Business server design
• Develop and maintain quality procedures and documentation
• Manage all source code and source control
• Manage the disaster recovery plan for all Application Development applications
• Review and recommend new methods or procedures to make daily operations more efficient
• Set goals and objectives for team members to achieve operational and strategic results
• Direct and guide supervisors
• Develop and mentor directly reporting staff and respond appropriately to feedback or concerns
• Cultivate strong working relationships and build trust among team members
• Interpret and implement management policies, utilizing short-term planning, scheduling, and coordinating for the department
• Assist senior management with developing and implementing long-term and short-term business objectives
• Develop, monitor, and maintain the department budget in cooperation with senior management
• Assist the Vice President with regulatory compliance to ensure the department is in accordance with applicable laws and government regulations
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer science, information technology or a related field (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements)
• 7 years of experience in the Information Systems field
• 3 years of management experience
• Advanced skills in NET (VB, ASP, C#), T-SQL, HTML, jQuery, Windows Azure, JavaScript, and CSS
• Advanced SQL Server and relational database experience
• Advanced knowledge of database integration applications, internet and browser-based applications, Microsoft application development tools, Service Oriented Architecture, object-oriented programming, Extreme Programming Methodology
• Advanced knowledge of component class design and development
• Excellent knowledge of Network, TCP/IP, and Server platform
• Advanced data analysis skills
• Ability to document processes through flow charts and specifications
• Strong organization, prioritization, analytical, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage areas of responsibility and attain goals
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
• Ability to comprehensibly communicate policies, practices, and procedures to direct reports and stakeholders
