The Senior Legal Accounts Specialist is responsible for reviewing, drafting, preparing, and managing activities for moderate to complex processes. This includes problem-solving, evaluating requirements, communicating, designing, testing, and implementing business unit products and processes related to deceased accounts, fiduciary accounts, garnishments, levies, child support, and powers of attorney.
Responsibilities
- Review and decision the acceptance of legal documents for power of attorney, trust agreements, letters of guardianship, letters of administration, summary of administration, dispositions without administration, deeds, notary affidavits, survivor affidavits, objection to claims, satisfaction of claims, writ of garnishments, IRS levies, child support levies, sales tax levies, and other court order documents
- Perform operational tasks to maintain accounts upon the acceptance or denial of legal documents
- Draft, prepare, and file legal documents with courts, attorneys, and members
- Conduct document and transaction research to investigate the facts
- Assist staff, members, or other approved parties by providing detailed information regarding the member’s account
- Conduct account maintenance to service deceased accounts
- Process routine workflows and reports such as the daily social security notification reports, Akcelerant entries, joint owner provisions, credit card memos, and right of offset procedures
- Approve the creation of new accounts
- Perform account maintenance to service trusts, guardianships, estates, rep payees, and uniform transfers to minor accounts
- Facilitate account amendments and transactions approvals
- Collaborate with other business units such as Member Solutions, Risk Management, and Consumer Lending to resolve deceased members’ unpaid debts
- Provide courteous service while observing CIP and Red Flag requirements
- Adhere to security, audit, and compliance requirements
- Support Suncoast Credit Union’s growth by recognizing opportunities to promote products meeting members’ needs
- Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
- Associates degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred. (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements).
- Minimum of three years of experience in financial or legal services, with a proven track record of handling complex legal documents and processes.
- Ability to prioritize tasks by effectively managing competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
- Ability to analyze and resolve difficult and often complex problems or situations
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
- Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures
- Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties
