A Senior Technical Designer is responsible for ensuring the technical accuracy and quality of apparel designs as they transition from conceptual sketches to finalized, production-ready garments. This role requires a blend of design knowledge, garment construction expertise, and strong communication skills to collaborate with various teams (design, production, sourcing, etc.),
This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth transition from design to production, maintaining the quality, fit, and functionality of the final product. A Senior Technical Designer is responsible for turning creative ideas into wearable, manufacturable garments while solving any technical challenges that arise.
Key Responsibilities :
- Tech Pack Creation :
Develop detailed tech packs, including specifications, measurements, construction details, fabric types, trims, colorways, and any other relevant information for the production team.
Work closely with pattern makers to ensure the fit and construction of garments meet design specifications.
Review and assess prototype samples and provide feedback on design execution, quality, and functionality.
Partner with designers, pattern makers, and production teams to ensure alignment between design concepts and manufacturability.
Stay up to date with fabric trends, textile innovations, and new materials, and provide recommendations for use in new collections.
Identify and troubleshoot any technical issues related to garment construction, fit, or fabric during the sample-making process.
Create and maintain accurate documentation for all design and production processes, including detailed sketches, measurement charts, and technical specifications.
Provide support to production teams during garment manufacturing, ensuring the designs are being made correctly and that issues are addressed promptly.
Perform quality assurance checks during the production process to ensure that garments meet the desired specifications.
