What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at Sunderlin Behavioral Interventions?
Candidate MUST reside in the state of Washington or Oregon- This position is 100% remote.

Hours 8:00 AM, OR 9 AM start time Monday- Friday (20 hr. per week)
· Assignments and tasks are completed on or before the deadline

Basic Considerations
· On time for scheduled meetings, and other work-related appointments; notify in advance when planning to be late; follows Sunderlin’s cancellation policy
· Attire is appropriate for the assigned work and adheres to Sunderlin’s dress code policy
· Able to establish positive rapport with our clients, their families, fellow Sunderlin staff, and other personnel
· Adheres to Sunderlin’s policies for requests for time off
· Maintains professional boundaries
Communication
· Participates in team meetings (e.g., sharing impressions, review and/or comment on data, recommendations)
· Assertive and effective communication with families/clients/funding sources, admin team, etc.
· Follows up with client families regarding any billing questions, etc.
· Able to articulate Sunderlin policies, offerings, etc. clearly
· Ability to assess problematic situations by maintaining a neutral/unbiased approach
· Checks and responds to calls, texts and emails every 24 hours
· Resolving issues at the lowest level possible and according to the correct point of contact
· Expressive needs in clear and respectful manner
· Continues to attend to and assume responsibility for an issue until it is successfully resolved
· Maintains a good working relationship with parents, other members of the treatment team, other companies/callers
· Real-time reporting of billing status to Clinical Director and/or Director of Operations

· Able to adapt to changes in policies, procedures, intervention methods, and other performance expectations
Knowledge Base and Technical Skills
· Demonstrates effective knowledge of billing
· Seeks out additional training provided by Sunderlin or outside trainings that are required to promote your professional development
· Maintain documents and information with accuracy and confidentiality
· Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing
· Calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary
· Researching and appealing denied claims.
· Answering patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts

· Files and documents organized
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
