Sunflower Bank N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a Senior Compliance Manager Partnership & Engagement in New Mexico.
Summary
This position is a key contributor in formalization and maturation of the Compliance Management Systems. As part of the Corporate Compliance team, this role focuses on active engagement with business units across the enterprise in support of strategic initiatives and providing expertise on impacts and considerations to compliance programs. This position requires the ability to provide proactive risk management, be solutions oriented, focus on relational awareness, and a desire to cultivate a continued expansion of their compliance expertise.
Primary Responsibilities
- Leadership and management of Compliance Partners in providing compliance support the efforts and needs of various business units.
- Assisting in the design, development, delivery and maintenance of best-in-class Compliance programs, policies, practices, and reporting commensurate with the size and complexity of the Bank, and in support of the Bank's strategy and risk appetite.
- Collaborating across the three lines of defense to support a culture of risk awareness, identification, measurement, reporting and management of enterprise-wide Compliance related opportunities and risks.
- Supporting a culture of continuous improvement to enhance the enterprise-wide compliance risk management program framework that incorporates risk assessment, control design, training, testing, and reporting of compliance matters.
- Serving as subject matter expert on compliance related topics by maintaining industry insights and timely review of related industry alerts and environment to help determine applicability and risk to the organization.
- Evaluating compliance with various regulations through testing, controls review, and other methods.
- Assisting with regulatory inquiries and/or examinations. This may include coordination with regulators and other parties.
- Provide support to the compliance program on other compliance initiatives as needed
- Support an interactive program that provides stakeholders with insight into compliance trends, themes, issues, and root causes
- Identify and evaluate emerging risks and present findings to functional leadership
- Maintain effective communication channels with other groups, including other compliance leaders, in support of an active and effective CMS and to address compliance issues which may impact the supported business lines.
- Acting as an agent for positive change with agility, adaptability, and flexibility
- Takes ownership and executes on priorities to deliver results in a proactive and timely manner.
- Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company.
- Responsible for upholding Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines.
- Understand and participate in the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of compliance experience at a financial institution is preferred. Prior work experience in a compliance or audit role within the financial services industry is preferred. Relevant experience at a consulting or similar firm or a federal regulator will also be considered.
- CTP, AAP, CRCM, or comparable professional certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required; extensive knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel is a plus. Working knowledge of Power BI is also preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, solid judgment, and the ability to evaluate complex regulatory business issues.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including by demonstrating excellent time management and planning skills, along with the ability to handle multiple assignments at the same time.
- A relationship builder with the ability to establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with regulators and with business and functional partners at the firm.
- Must be bondable.
Pay is dependent on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.
