We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Suppression System Expert to lead the design, integration, and compliance of fire protection systems within our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Inverter facilities. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge of fire protection for lithium-ion systems, familiarity with UL9540A testing, and experience navigating licensing and certification processes in the fire alarm industry—particularly in jurisdictions like Texas.

The Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Suppression System Expert to lead the design, integration, and compliance of fire protection systems within our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Inverter facilities. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge of fire protection for lithium-ion systems, familiarity with UL9540A testing, and experience navigating licensing and certification processes in the fire alarm industry—particularly in jurisdictions like Texas.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering design, selection, and integration of fire suppression systems (gaseous, clean agent, aerosol, and/or water mist) tailored to BESS configurations.
- Evaluate fire hazards and coordinate UL 9540A testing, report interpretation, and thermal runaway mitigation planning.
- Ensure fire protection systems meet all applicable codes and standards: NFPA 855, UL 9540/9540A, NFPA 2001, NFPA 72, IEC 62933, and others.
- Oversee installation, commissioning, and functional testing of fire suppression systems in collaboration with OEMs, EPCs, and on-site contractors.
- Work with local Authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and permitting bodies to obtain fire-related approvals and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of suppression system schematics, testing results, and maintenance logs.
- Interface with site operations, SCADA/BMS systems, and emergency response protocols.
- Monitor certification and licensing requirements specific to jurisdictions like Texas (e.g., ACR, FAL, NICET) and guide internal teams or partners through these processes.
- Support the procurement and display compliance for ACR numbers and ensure vehicles and materials adhere to display regulations.
- Ensure company or subcontractor holds an active Texas Alarm Certificate of Registration (ACR) if working in Texas.
- Confirm the company is a Licensed Firm with an Authorized FAL (Fire Alarm License) as required for legal fire alarm operations.
- Guide the team through NICET Level I & II certification processes to qualify staff for FAL eligibility.
- Ensure compliance with vehicle display regulations (ACR number, company name, and phone number).
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection, Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in fire suppression or fire alarm systems—preferably within BESS, renewables, or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Proven understanding of fire dynamics in lithium-ion battery systems.
- Strong knowledge of state-specific licensing (esp. Texas: ACR, FAL), national codes (NFPA, UL, IEC), and NICET certification pathways.
- NICET Level I or II certification preferred (or willingness to pursue).
- PE license, FAL license, or equivalent credentials are a plus.
- Prior experience interfacing with UL test labs, code officials, or fire marshals.
- Ability to interpret and apply UL9540A test results for system design.
- Strong communication and documentation skills for compliance reporting and stakeholder coordination.

Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
