Job Summary:

Responsible to assist BGIE in ensuring divisional training and compliance in all areas related to Health, Safety, and Environmental, both from a government regulatory and company procedural/policy standpoint. Provide support to Field HSE Coordinators at the discretion of the HSE Manager and assist with policy and program development at the corporate level as directed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop Managers awareness and ensure HSE is an integral part of Line Management responsibilities and objectives.
  • Assist Line Management in:
  • Understanding and Implementing the HSE Management System.
  • Monitoring HSE objectives.
  • Liaising with local contractors, and agencies regarding HSE.
  • Assessing the local risks.
  • Generating local HSE procedures, work instructions and checklists as required.
  • Preparing and monitoring HSE plans that define how the HSE Management System is implemented at location level.
  • Monitoring compliance to policies, standards and procedures.
  • Plan and assist in compliance audits and self-audits (Sunland and external).
  • Advise Management on corrective action required.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in the screening and HSE training of all personnel, including subcontractors.
  • Keep abreast of any new documentation and training material related to HSE and to inform management accordingly.
  • Ensure that the relevant HSE documentation is updated and available on the site.
  • Advise Management on the level of compliance of the local HSE program.
  • Actively monitor & follow-up on HSE reports and facilitate HSE meetings, audits and inspection.
  • Support line management in investigations of failures and accidents.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of awareness among all personnel through communications, training, and promoting active involvement of employees in HSE.
  • Recommend improvements to the HSE program.
  • Analyze HSE trends for the location.
  • Pro-active, enthusiasm and a passion for excellence.
  • HSE recognized as strength by peers and management.
  • Develops, delivers, and facilitates structured safety and regulatory training and development programs and initiatives in support of the company s training plan and objectives.
  • Update materials with changes in regulations and programs from Sunland, clients, and regulators while ensuring the renewal, development, and implementation of written programs and initiatives.
  • Assist Field HSE Coordinator(s) with project plan development and reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance to operations personnel and provide suggestions to improve safety.
  • Coordinate with management to maintain an inventory of HSE supplies and signage.
  • Compile and provide statistical information on lagging indicators, trending analysis and the status of the training program and maintain training records.
  • Provide onsite project HSE support across all operations.
  • Perform Jobsite audits/inspections to ensure that all regulatory, client, and internal HSE work practices are being followed.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Corporate HSE Manager or HSE Director.

HSE Coordinator Accountability:

  • Coaching Division Leadership (Division Manager, Assistant Division Manager, Superintendents, Foremen, General Foremen, Welder Foremen, Project Managers, Area Managers, Field Supervisors, etc.) in BGIE s and SCI&A s Safety Culture.

  • Implementing and monitoring a standard approach to the BGIE/Sunland Health, Safety and Environmental Program, including, but not limited to:
  • Ensuring government and client regulatory compliance for safety and environmental
  • Leading and building a team of Field Safety Coordinators and together they will:
  • Conduct new hire orientation
  • Track progress of new hires to keep them safe
  • Conduct safety meetings
  • Conduct work site and equipment inspections
  • Conduct incident and accident investigations
  • Coordinate employee injury assessment with follow-up
  • Conduct on the spot training with employees as needed
  • Coordinate employee training programs larger in scope
