TITLE: MDS Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing
Job Summary: This position is responsible for assuring timely MDS (Minimum Data Set) completion for assigned patients/units to meet deadlines, with a focus on accuracy, case mix maximization, and regulatory compliance. In addition, this position may be responsible for development and implementation of staff education programs for the facility.
Qualifications: Must have a current/active RN license with the State of Minnesota. Must keep up with CEU’s for license renewal. Must have the ability to communicate and comprehend in order to gather information from residents and their families. Must be able to educate and train employees with diverse ages and backgrounds on the correct way to code resident’s ADLs. The MDS Coordinator is also required to have an ability to read, write and speak English, and complete and pass a state required background study form which checks for certain criminal convictions or serious/recurring maltreatment.

General Responsibilities:
- Schedules MDS’s with ARD dates that will allow for the appropriate RUG category and reimbursement to occur.
- Completes assessments, Minimum Data Set (MDS) and care plans for all residents per OBRA and PPS assessment guidelines.
- Coordinates completion of MDSs by other disciplines within timeframes prescribed by regulatory guidelines.
- Advises supervisor of incomplete and/or untimely assessments by disciplines other than nursing.
- Ensures accurate, timely completion of the MDS/CAAs/Care Plans for assigned residents.
