Human Resources Director
Reports to: Owner
Position Summary
The human resource director is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function. As the HR Director, you will develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs to attract, develop, and retain a high-performing workforce aligned with the company’s goals and values. This role will also have general safety knowledge for transportation and strong knowledge and experience working with commercial liability, cargo, and other insurance policies all while working closely with agents and providers.
Main Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Annually reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance.
- Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
- Lead the talent acquisition process, partnering with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, develop job descriptions, source candidates, conduct interviews, and facilitate the selection and onboarding of new employees.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, and proactively address HR-related legal and compliance issues.
- Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters.
- Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Eligibility:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree and HR certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience as an HR Director, HR Manager, or in a similar leadership role, with a track record of successfully developing and implementing HR strategies and programs.
- Strong knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws and regulations.
- Experience in full-cycle talent acquisition, including recruitment, selection, and onboarding process.
- Solid understanding of performance management systems, employee engagement strategies, and talent developing strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels and build strong relationships.
Preferred:
- Transportation experience and master’s degree from a four-year college or university
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position manages all employees of the HR department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department and other departments.
