Principle Objective of Position
This position supports domestic and global shipment logistics for the Reference Standard and Critical Reagent (RSCR) Group within the Global Product Development & Supply / Global Quality organization. Primary role will be to support numerous aspects of shipping logistics/coordination and related shipping data management within the RSCR Operations group.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Learn and/or understand how materials are prepared for shipment (what containers to use, shipping temperature, how to condition and pack materials, etc.).
- Manage logistical outgoing order activities including order consolidation(s).
- Manage shipping documentation preparation (invoice preparation) and take the lead in discussions with internal/external partners pertaining to the coordination of material movement for both domestic and international shipments when needed.
- Update shipping information in RSCROS inventory system for both domestic and international shipments in order to ensure holistic system data continuity.
- Assume shared accountability for the maintenance of inventory supplies related to shipments (TempTales, containers, etc.) to ensure proper reserves for uninterrupted shipping to network stakeholders
- Interface with entities such as PPD and other internal/external partners (as required) for shipping-related (forwarding agent/customs information coordination) issues.
Provide support for licensing activities when needed which includes:
- Interface with subject matter experts (SMEs) on projected shipments to destination requiring licenses.
- Interface with Client Customs and Trade (and any other entities) on the procurement of shipping licenses and the maintenance of the licensing information (number of licenses) for RSCR in the Customs and Trade tracker.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications: Education: A BS or Associate s degree in biological sciences, chemistry or some science-related field.
Experience/Knowledge:
Experience/Knowledge:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience experience in a shipping logistics environment (specifically scientific, not industrial).
- Hazmat Shipping Certification in shipping Hazardous Material is a must.
Skills/Competencies:
- Preferably experience with shipping pharmaceutical and biologics material (no blood, pathogens or body fluids we only ship reference standards for testing other materials).
- Broad experience in cold chain shipments for use in GxP laboratory environments.
