Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor is searching for a Purchasing Manager to join our Procurement team!
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for negotiating and purchasing goods and services for the Food & Beverage departments. This role will support the Director of Procurement and will also provide leadership in a dynamic, fast-paced, sophisticated environment in order to promote a culture of excellence.
All duties are performed in accordance with department and property policies, practices and procedures.
Job Duties
- Perform Requests for Proposal (RFP) and quotes (RFQ), negotiate prices, analyzes bids and prepared supporting documentation, recommendations and justification
- Maximize profits through high quality, costs effective purchases
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and maintain records for audits
- Assist MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Buyer to set and adjust food and beverage specifications and PARs, disposables, chemicals, equipment and supplies.
- Negotiate bids and prepare procurement contracts and stocking agreements for review
- Maintain strong partnerships with vendors
- Complete reports and analyze and compile information to facilitate improved practices
- Evaluate market conditions and recommend new products and suppliers to enhance and increase profitability, which may include attending events and exhibitions
- Maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts
- Consult, advise and guide buyers on practices, processes and standards
- Ensures all orders are placed on time in accordance with the Vendor Order Delivery Schedule
- Have fiscal responsibility for both the property as well as the departments by consistently looking for ways to refine the business without compromising guest satisfaction
- Accountable for delivering consistent extraordinary customer service to all internal customers throughout the property that meets and exceeds guest satisfaction.
- Contributes to a positive work environment by fostering, engaging and promoting exchange of ideas that improves work flow or saves cost
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment when evaluating new programs, new services and new ideas
- Manage departmental expenditures within scope
- Bring forward ideas for new and refurbished services, practices or processes.
- Proactively seek internal customer feedback and liaise with other departments when opportunities present themselves ensuring a seamless and elevated guest experience.
- Manage internal customers’ requests and own all complaints; resolve issues immediately and follow up to ensure the guest’s satisfaction
- Develop collaborative relationships and synergy with all support departments such as Convention Sales & Services, Facilities, Security, Front Services, Front Office, F&B, Golf Course and Executive Offices
- Perform other functions as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Sunseeker Resorts performs criminal background checks on all candidates. - Bachelor’s Degree is Hospitality Management, Sales, or related field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience/knowledge in food and beverage procurement
- Minimum of five (5) years of vendor/relationship management
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory/leadership experience
- Previous experience in purchasing/procurement for a large hotel/resort required
- Purchasing Certification preferred
Other Minimum Requirements
- Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Must be flexible for work outside of normal business hours as required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Email, Word and Excel.
- Experience with purchasing systems
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to function well under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet established deadlines.
- Must possess mature personal discretion, sound judgment and give clear direction.
- Strong leadership abilities, sound judgment, superior problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical skills with particular attention to quality and detail
