Child Care/ Aftercare Special Needs 1:3 counselor at Colbert Elementary

We are looking for energetic, outgoing, upbeat people who like to work with children. Employees will be required to assist with planning and implementing activities geared towards special needs students. You will be in charge of supervising 1 student with severe Special Needs.

The students needs are as followed:

-Autistic - Non-verbal - diapered (must be willing and able to assist with the restroom and changing the student if needed) - will run away from the shared space (must be willing to go after student) -

Previous special needs training or experience is REQUIRED

You must be a hard working team player who can think on your feet. We are looking for an individual who has experience working with students with special needs, specifically, those in need of Occupational Therapy, Physically Therapy, Speech and/ or Language Services. Students may present challenging behaviors such as running, stealing, hitting, biting, pinching, screaming, and tantrums.

Must have experience with special needs population and a passion for working with special needs students.

Preferred: Those in school for ESE Education, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Behavioral Analysis.

Requirements

• Must be available to work Monday - Friday from 1:30-6:00 pm
• 18 years or older
• High School Diploma or GED
• Have reliable transportation
• Must be able to pass fingerprint screening involving juvenile records

To be eligible for hire, potential employees must be available to work Monday through Friday from 1:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. and 11:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Broward County School Early Release Days.

Staff must also be able to meet the following local and state government requirements
*Must be 18 years of age or older
*Must have a High School Diploma or GED
*Must clear a federal and local background check (School Board Fingerprinting)
*Must complete a standard physical within 48 hours of hire.
(Sunshine will schedule and pay for)
*Must complete 45 hours of Child Care Courses / training within 1 year of employment
*Must complete CPR / First Aid Training within 30 days
(Sunshine will schedule / pay for)
*Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English Language.
*Must have reliable transportation
*Must be a TEAM player and enjoy working with children
