Company Overview :

Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in evaluating bid specifications and plans, ensuring comprehensive understanding of project requirements, and actively engaging with subcontractors and vendors to secure competitive bids. You will collaborate closely with Project Management, Business Development, and Field Superintendents to drive successful bid submissions and project budgeting efforts.

Bid Administration :

Prepare and maintain status of plan reproduction.

Engage with subcontractors and vendors, maintaining effective communication.

Create subcontractor bid packages and distribute relevant bid information.

Ensure complete coverage from subcontractors on bid day.

Employ creative strategies to secure favorable pricing from subcontractors.

Submit 100% of bids and budgets punctually.

Enter bid-related information into HCSS software.

Project Knowledge :

Possess extensive knowledge of public works heavy civil bidding environment.

Showcase experience with FDOT Roadway, drainage, utility, and structure estimating.

Utilize HCSS estimating software proficiently.

Develop bid construction schedules.

Conduct thorough review of bid requirements and seek clarifications when necessary.

Demonstrate deep understanding of scope for assigned trades.

Generate bid RFIs (Requests for Information) and clarifications.

Analyze and scope specific assigned trades on bid day.

Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents for bid and budget follow-up.

Facilitate smooth transition of bid documents and sub buyout information to Project Management.

Conduct plan reviews with Project Management, highlighting potential concerns.

Review job costs with Project Management and identify pending subcontractor / material vendor awards.

Source and qualify new subcontractors, building long-term relationships.

Foster strong relationships with various departments.

Ensure competitive and winning bids and proposals.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Project).

Qualifications :

5 to 7 years of experience in estimating within the construction industry.

Experience with FDOT projects and HCSS estimating software is a must.

Familiarity with public works heavy civil bidding environment.

Strong understanding of bid processes, documentation, and subcontractor coordination.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or construction-related field.

• Minimum of 2 years of field construction experience.
• Minimum of 3 years as a full-time Commercial / DOT / Residential estimator.
• Excellent computer skills and heavy bid estimating software knowledge.
• Experience with computerized takeoff and / or design program.
• Experience with Design Build Proposal Development.
• P6 experience preferred.
