Sunshine Enterprises fosters economically viable communities through training, coaching, and connecting high-potential entrepreneurs. Sunshine Enterprises’ mission is to empower high-potential entrepreneurs living in under-resourced neighborhoods to grow their businesses and transform their communities. Sunshine Enterprises’ vision is to establish 5 neighborhood-based business hubs catalyzing free enterprise in Chicago’s under-resourced neighborhoods. Currently, we serve hundreds of unique entrepreneurs throughout the Chicago area in three main business hubs servicing neighborhoods such as Woodlawn, Englewood, West Evanston, Rogers Park, and North Lawndale. Each of these hubs has been strategically placed in areas suffering from a lack of jobs, marketplace resources, and growth opportunities. These hubs provide an economic stimulus to the communities by supporting local entrepreneurs. SE also has developed specialty hubs focused on the arts & makers, property development, and construction trades industries.
Position Summary
SE’s core programs are the Community Business Academy (CBA) and Business Acceleration Services (BAS). The CBA is a twelve-session, 36-hour interactive course in business basics. The core of the BAS program is business coaching. Sunshine Enterprises is seeking instructors to teach our Community Business Academy. The CBA Instructor position will provide facilitation and instruction for one session of the CBA and coaching for selected clients within the course. The CBA curriculum is designed for in-person but has also been facilitated online through the Digital Community Business Academy (DCBA)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Attend CBA Instructor Training
- Attend Rising Tide CBA Instructor Certification training sessions
- Attend or shadow one digital CBA cohort (if already a CBA graduate, shadow)
- Provide CBA Co-Instruction and Co-Management for one digital or in-person CBA cohort
- Serve as co-instructor for one CBA cohort
- Co-host online or in-person cohorts
- Prep for class and review the curriculums
- Communicate with participants as needed.
- Communicate with other instructor(s) and site monitor as needed.
- Review and provide feedback on homework submitted by participants weekly
- Provide coaching and technical assistance to assigned participants
- Assist with monitoring and communicating graduation requirements to all participants relating to:
- Attendance
- Homework submission
- Individual technical assistance session
- Go Forward Forms
- Review or Submit the following information over the course of the CBA semester:
- Review Class Attendance Report; done weekly
- Review Homework Report for accuracy; done weekly
- Complete the online CBA coaching form; due weekly
- Complete the CBA Instructor Student Evaluation Form for each student and participate in the Go Forward Meeting with SE staff
- Complete the graduation form listing graduates and award winners
- Participate in pre-semester launch meetings and weekly calls with other CBA instructors
And all other duties as assigned.

- Real Estate Development, with experience in managing projects from concept to completion.
- Urban Planning/Community Development with familiarity with affordable housing programs, zoning regulations, and grant funding processes.
- Entrepreneurship experience in running/advising small businesses in real estate or property management sectors.
- Knowledge of how to support entrepreneurs in navigating challenges in property development.

Minimum Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education, licensure and/or experience:
- 5 years experience running a small business or consulting for small businesses in relevant industry
- Experience teaching and facilitating group classroom learning experiences
- Experience providing individual and group coaching to entrepreneurs
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- Graduate of Community Business Academy (preferred)
Attendance
To perform this job successfully, an individual must maintain the following attendance:
- Reliable and predictable attendance is required.
- Availability to work selected nights and weekends.
Salary : $6,050
