Shipping supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a shipping, receiving, and Inventory, ensuring timely and accurate product delivery and receipt by managing a team of shipping staff, coordinating shipping schedules, verifying packaging and labeling, maintaining inventory levels, and resolving any shipping/receiving issues that may arise, reports to a DC Operations manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

- Supervise and train shipping personnel on proper packing, labeling, and shipping procedures.
- Assign tasks and manage daily schedules to optimize workflow.
- Monitor employee performance and provide feedback.
- Address and resolve any employee concerns or issues related to shipping operations.
- Plan and coordinate shipping schedules based on customer orders and delivery deadlines.
- Verify accuracy of shipping documents, including invoices and packing slips.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock for upcoming shipments.
- Ensure proper packaging and labeling of products according to shipping regulations.
- Oversee loading and unloading of trucks.
- Contact co-pack customers for necessary information regarding outbound shipments.
- Oversee the unloading of deliveries, ensuring proper handling and damage prevention.
- Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips for accuracy of quantity and product details.
- Identify and report any discrepancies or damaged goods to vendors and appropriate departments.
- Conduct quality checks on received items to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by updating systems with received items and managing stock levels.
- Conduct periodic cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate with other departments regarding stock availability and replenishment needs.
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and procedures within the receiving area.
- Monitor and address any potential safety hazards.
- Maintain proper documentation and reporting related to receiving operations.
- Analyze receiving metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Resolve any issues related to receiving discrepancies with vendors.
- Inspect shipments for damage or discrepancies before dispatch.
- Implement quality control measures to minimize shipping errors.
- Investigate and address any shipping related issues, including damaged goods or delivery delays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Efficiently prioritize tasks and manage workflows.
- Ensure accuracy in all aspects of shipping processes.
- Identify and resolve shipping related issues promptly.
- Clear and concise communication with team members, customers, and other departments.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems and shipping software.
Ability to:
- Ability and willingness to work any hours as business conditions require.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with successful experience in a team building environment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent minimum with preferred 2-year college degree in business, food technology, or other relevant major.
- 2 or more years of supervisory or leadership experience in warehousing, with preferred experience in food or beverage warehousing.
Physical/Safety Requirements:
- Tolerate extended periods of sitting at desk.
- Tolerate Extended periods of walking / standing
- Ambient noise is louder than a traditional office setting.
