Description
Sunvera Group is currently hiring a full-time Patient Surgical Accounting Specialists to work in their centralized billing department located in Bingham Farms, MI. This position will be hybrid with work from home days per week.
Responsible for monitoring all financial arrangements for surgery center patients.
List of Responsibilities/Duties
- Develops and implements process for reviewing the surgery schedule for necessary financial arrangements.
- Researches and communicates to patients regarding insurance benefits and resulting personal financial responsibilities.
- Assists office surgery scheduler with securing preauthorizations and communicating with patients.
- Assists office clinics with securing preauthorizations for MRI and CT.
- Monitors all primary and secondary claims filing for surgeries.
- Reviews and follows up on patient balances and self-pay patients.
- Interacts with surgery center staff regarding patient business matters.
- Assists business office staff with duties.
- Keeps on top of upcoming surgery arrangements and communicates with patients in a timely and professional manner.
- Enters payment and other information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Interfaces between surgery center staff, business office staff and surgery scheduler in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicates effectively with administration, physicians and other staff.
- Attends required meetings and participates in insurance meetings to keep current on changes in insurance matters.
- Conforms to all office policies and procedures, including punctuality, attendance and dress codes.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Minimum Background Requirements
- Two years of medical insurance office experience, preference for background in ophthalmology.
- Strong knowledge of coding and insurance billing procedures.
- Word processing and computer experience.
- Strong accurate mathematical capabilities.

- Must possess good understanding of medical billing, coding and insurance copays and referral processes.

Physical Demands
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time, with some bending, stooping and stretching required.
- Must be able to view and type on a computer for extended periods.
- Must be able to talk on the phone.
