Brief Job Description
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) as well as other courses within the Exceptional Education Department. Other responsibilities include advising undergraduate and graduate students, supervising field-based experiences, collaborating with local schools, guiding student research, curriculum development, TESOL program coordination, serving on faculty committees, and engaging in scholarly activities.
Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate in TESOL or closely related field. Demonstration of extensive knowledge and expertise in TESOL. Holds or is eligible to hold New York State Certification in TESOL. Evidence of effective teaching experience in a school setting with exceptional learners.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in another closely related educational area, evidence of successful teaching at the post-secondary level; evidence of successful teaching in clinically rich programs in partnership with P-12 schools; advocacy efforts for and engagement with multilingual communities, experience with assessment and accreditation activities; record of research and/or publications or evidence of potential for scholarly pursuits; experience working with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
