SUNY College of Optometry seeks a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Director for Student Affairs and Recruitment at the SUNY College of Optometry Upstate Extension program located in Syracuse, NY. This role is pivotal in shaping a supportive and enriching environment for our students and plays a crucial part in growing our student community. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of student life and leading our student recruitment efforts for the Syracuse campus. The position reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs and, in matters related to admissions and recruitment, to the Senior Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management. The position will also work closely with the extension site Director. This role will be based in Syracuse, New York.
Key Responsibilities :
Student Affairs :
- Oversee the delivery and continuous improvement of student support services, including counseling, health services, career advising, and other resources that enhance student well-being and academic success.
- Manage and promote extracurricular activities that enrich the student experience, including student organizations, leadership development programs, and campus events.
- Provide guidance and resources to students, addressing academic, personal, and social concerns.
- Work closely with campus partners to integrate support services and activities into the broader student experience, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
- Develop and implement policies and programs that foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive campus environment.
- Collaborate with the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) and other campus partners to address and resolve student conduct issues.
- Ensure consistent application of institutional policies and procedures related to student behavior and disciplinary actions.
- Manage and resolve student concerns and issues, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and other campus departments to support student retention and success.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success and retention.
