Position Summary : The English Department at SUNY Geneseo is pleased to accept applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Creative Writing (Fiction). This position carries an 18-credit load, taught as a 2-2-2-3 cycle across two years. We seek a candidate with an MFA or Ph.D. and a strong record of publication—ideally one book with a nationally-recognized press (or equivalent)—who would be able to teach :
- inventive fiction workshop courses of their own design
- our multi-genre introductory Foundations of Creative Writing course
- our literary magazine Editing and Production course
- a craft or survey course in a subgenre of fiction, such as YA literature or speculative fiction
The English Department has an active Diversity Committee that foregrounds inclusive pedagogy and engages in professional development around anti-racist writing workshops and trauma-informed teaching. We are especially eager to hear from candidates working in diverse traditions of creative writing.
