The Office of Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz seeks an engaged colleague to serve as the next HRIS Transaction Specialist. The Transaction Specialist will be directly responsible for a range of transactional activity impacting all employee classifications. The successful candidate will work with appropriate HRDI staff and partner offices to ensure confidentiality and consistency of processes and practices as it relates to employment transactions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Serve as liaison to our campus payroll office as well as SUNY system partner offices to support successful payment to employees for initial paychecks and any pay changes during their employment life cycle.
- Process payroll for new hires and any employment changes across all employee classifications while ensuring data integrity in the HRIS System
- Process updates for classified employees in the State Electronic Personnel System (NYSTEP)
- Prepare notices for pay differentials/shift change notices for classified employees
- Process any manual negotiated increases as directed by SUNY and the Office of the State Controller.
- Support the "classified" recruitment function, by providing clerical support to the HRDI Employment Generalist.
- Perform other advanced clerical functions occasionally as directed by HRDI leadership.
- Cross train on defined business processes to ensure support and continuity when operationally necessary.
- Maintain current with payroll processes, instructions and regulations as provided by SUNY and NYS state.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in business/HR-related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training in payroll or HRIS transactions OR an Associate's Degree plus 4 years of direct experience. In lieu of a degree, 6 years of direct experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated experience working with HRIS or payroll software or similar relational databases.
- Working knowledge of general Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Excellent record-keeping and organization to meet and manage competing deadlines and priorities.
- Able to deliver consistent and high-quality customer service and to communicate and interact effectively with diverse campus constituents while responding efficiently to needs and requests under imposed deadlines.
- Previous experience with NYS HR and payroll transaction management.
