Description of Department:
The Office of Communications and Marketing supports the mission and goals of SUNY Oswego by building awareness (of people, place, and programs/facilities) among targeted audiences, and telling the story of SUNY Oswego through our students, faculty, staff and alumni to internal and external audiences. The office performs this communications and marketing work in its effort to enhance Oswego's reputation through its three core functions: Marketing; News/Media; and Design & Print Services. A staff of professionals serves colleagues all across campus in an integrated approach to deliver targeted marketing strategies and communication tactics, generate positive publicity in traditional and new media, develop website, digital and e-communication products, and/or produce engaging print communication. SUNY Oswego's Office of Communications and Marketing has been recognized for its work, receiving awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Educational Digital Marketing.

Position Description:
SUNY Oswego seeks a talented Digital Content Writer/Producer for a dual role of content creation and social media coordination. This position will seek out and tell the many stories of SUNY Oswego and explore how to those stories through written and social media. The Digital Content Writer/Producer, reporting to the Director of News and Media, serves as a crucial contributor to the day-to-day content creation and plays a key role in supporting the university's integrated enrollment marketing efforts. The Digital Content Writer/Producer engages with the Chief Communication Officer and all members of the university's Communications and Marketing team.
The Digital Content Writer/Producer at SUNY Oswego is a creative writer and thinker who will develop strategically inspired and creatively-led ideas, willing and able to do the groundwork necessary to craft well-conceived, fully-informed news and marketing content that promotes the student-centered environment at SUNY Oswego ? diving into research, meeting with and interviewing stakeholders, cultivating an in-depth understanding of the university's programs and digital marketing initiatives, and more.
This position is full-time and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, which requires at least three days of in-office, on-campus presence during academic semesters.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, marketing or related field
- Experience in a role as a content producer, journalist, writer and/or editor
- Track record of writing engaging stories and content across all media
- Familiarity with AP style
- Knowledge of social media management platforms and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; a strong relationship builder who possesses the ability to mine and identify stories and marketing content
- Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Preferred Qualifications:
- Skills and knowledge about how to tell stories across a variety of media and platforms
- A talent for creative and professional writing including news releases, feature articles, news posts and digital marketing copy
- A talent for social media content creation and demonstrated understanding of how to reach target audiences and maintain their interest
- An understanding of social media trends and how to leverage them for SUNY Oswego's brand and goals
- Ability to coordinate the day-to-day activities of social media accounts, as well as knowing how to create and manage a social media calendar
- Ability to collaborate with content creators both in the Office of Communications and Marketing and among campus partners
- A knowledge of and commitment to digital content accessibility
- Strengths in both creative and critical thinking
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Multimedia and video storytelling experience
