What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Vice President for Administration position at SUNY Plattsburgh?
We are seeking an individual who will provide dynamic and creative leadership to develop and manage a strategically focused division in support of the Vice President for Administration and Finance and the university’s mission.
The successful candidate will serve as the campus liaison to the Office of General Counsel (OGC) to obtain legal advice and convey notifications of risk or anticipated issues that may require a legal response, respond to requests from OGC or other government entities related to all legal matters, develop and implement policies and procedures as they relate to administrative functions for the campus, and provide oversight and coordination to the areas of Internal Control & Risk Management and Procurement Services.
This position will also be responsible for working independently on special projects assigned by the VP to support divisional and university-wide objectives. Examples of these responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Leading divisional strategic planning; Management of divisional communications; Serving on, or as the liaison to, various campus committees as requested and/or representing the Vice President at meetings they are unable to attend; And serving as a contact to other administrative departments on campus and community constituents for divisional and university needs.
The Administration & Finance division provides essential services to our campus, local, state, federal and international customers. We are responsible for human, physical, financial and technical resources. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Three (3) years’ minimum managerial experience
- Experience in policy development and administration
- Well-developed customer service acumen
- Strong organizational, analytical, written and oral communication
- Demonstrated ability to work in a highly confidential environment and maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to research and interpret policies, laws, and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple work assignments with frequent interruptions
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Knowledge of campus and local policies and procedures
- Familiarity with SUNY and NYS procurement, as well as compliance laws, rules, and regulations
