The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description A Trades Generalist is required to work on specialized activities and perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance repair, installation and construction tasks in the mechanical, building, motor equipment and electrical trades. This position requires proficient skills and experience in carpentry and electronics. In addition, the Trades Generalist must have the ability to work on building projects such as installing windows, walls and ceilings. The Trades Generalist will be required to work with and assist other trades and departments as required. Minimum Qualifications Must be eligible for permanent appointment to this title pursuant to civil service lawNon-competitive: four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed ServicesValid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operatedAsbestos abatement certification or the willingness and ability to become certified within one within a year of appointment.A demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with a variety of individuals

Additional Comments This position will perform journey-level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. The supervision of others in maintenance, repair, installation, and construction activities may also be included. Maintenance Trades is responsible for repairs to campus infrastructures and preventative maintenance. We are part of the Administration & Finance division which provides essential services to our campus, local, state, federal and international customers. We are responsible for human, physical, financial and technical resources. As professionals, we navigate systems in a collaborative and sensitive way to assist the University in achieving its educational mission.
