What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trades Generalist position at Environmental Conservation, Department of?
The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description CARPENTRY: This position requires journey level experience in all aspects of carpentry; to include but not limited to roofing, building rehabilitation & repair, new construction. Candidate must be able to make material lists, obtain quotes and may be required to lay out and lead projects to completion. ELECTRICAL: This position requires basic level experience of electricity and candidate must have ability to make minor repairs and modifications to diagnose and repair pumps, motors, floats and other equipment.PLUMBING: This position requires basic level experience in public water and sewer systems. The duties include but are not limited to seasonal start up and shut down - winterization annually, basic maintenance and repairs of associated, pumps, motors and components of these systems.Additionally, duties will involve other areas of support and maintenance at facilities as directed; some of which will require DEC chainsaw certification to assist with hazardous tree removal.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program;or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in a skilled trade at a school, institute or branch of the Armed Services.
Additional comments regarding the vacancy. Additional Comments This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2025, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.Must be able to work in remote areas.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergenciesMust be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.
