Purpose of Position:
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will help us aspire to our purpose and mission by ensuring our production departments are working safely and efficiently, while delivering a quality product, on-time for our customers.
This position is hands-on and requires a significant amount of time on the manufacturing floor working collaboratively with operators, supervisors, and the Production Manager. The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will also serve as a key link between sales engineering and production, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement through design for manufacturing. This is a high visibility position that is central to supporting a culture of continuous improvement through employee engagement.
Major Responsibilities:
- Recommend revisions in manufacturing methods as needed based on costs, manpower efficiency, machine capability, space utilization, etc.
- Participates in continuous improvement efforts in the areas of Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Productivity.
- Document standard production methods for sustained success.
- Reduce equipment downtime due to tooling changeover through process improvement, equipment modifications, or tool introduction.
- Design and drive implementation of new fixtures/other organizational efforts.
- Participate in 5S activities to create standardized department layouts.
- Participate and actively contribute to Super Radiator Coil’s team-oriented design, manufacture, and customer service/support efforts.
- Operate with autonomy within the scope of an assignment.
- Applies fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures to improve the manufacturing process.
- Utilize Lean principles to improve our products and processes.
- Manage projects of various size and scope.
