Job Description
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for developing bid proposal packages and cost estimates for various projects. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the electrical construction process and demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting commercial construction bid documents.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely completion of all bids while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage all aspects of the bid process, including analysis, organization, and clarification of bid documents (plans, specs, RFPs, etc.), and preparation of written proposals.
- Perform and supervise quantity surveys in a format that allows application of production rates to determine labor costs, estimated material costs, and equipment costs.
- Execute and oversee take-offs from drawings, pricing change orders, and conducting site visits to assess constructability.
- Interpret plans and specifications to identify types and grades of materials and equipment needed, ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Maintain current and accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors, applying cost fundamentals.
- Complete Bill of Materials (B.O.M.) and manage Request for Pricing (RFP) from subcontractors and vendors.
- Collaborate with the Chief Estimator to provide comprehensive electrical cost estimates for construction projects.
- Gather and analyze data for bid proposals, determine project scope, and evaluate special conditions affecting proposals.
- Calculate statistical information for quantity take-offs, create material lists, solicit material quotations, and determine labor costs.
- Evaluate subcontractor bids and assess personnel and equipment needs.
Knowledge & Skills
- Technical Knowledge: Expertise in electrical estimating, design/build, and conceptual estimating of large-scale projects.
- Attention to Detail: Proven ability to manage detailed construction analyses and develop comprehensive cost estimates.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders.
- Time Management: Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines efficiently.
- Cost Estimation: Proficient in applying cost fundamentals and analyzing data for accurate estimates.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced capabilities in ACCUBID and related estimating software; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software, and CAD.

- Experience with large-scale commercial, industrial, and federal projects with contract values starting at $5 million.
- Hands-on experience reviewing project plans, conducting site visits, and evaluating construction methods.
- Proven track record of successfully estimating electrical projects and maintaining strong industry relationships.
Experience/Education
- 5–10 years of experience performing estimates for an electrical contractor.
- BS degree in a related field or equivalent preferred.
- Proficient in Accubid and estimating software systems.
- Background screen and drug screen required.
