Job Summary
An HR/Safety Assistant provides administrative support to the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety and Human Resources by managing employee records, assisting with applications, New Hire packets, scheduling onboarding, processing new hires, managing benefits inquiries, tracking employee certifications/credentials, and handling general employee questions, all while ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws; essentially acting as a key point of contact for employees regarding New Hire and Training matters.
Onboarding and orientation:
Preparing new hire paperwork, facilitating orientation sessions, and ensuring smooth integration into the company.
Training:
Providing initial new-hire safety training and follow-up interaction.
Assisting with or conducting safety training sessions on topics such as respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and ergonomics
Employee records management:
Maintaining accurate employee data, including personal information, employment details, and performance evaluations.
Safety documentation:
Maintaining and updating safety reports, chemical inventories, and other resources
Benefits administration:
Answering employee questions about benefits plans, processing enrollments, and communicating changes.
Compliance management:
Ensuring adherence to employment laws and company policies regarding HR practices.
Drug Screening:
Quickly and accurately record and process specimens, ensuring all relevant information is accurate, and all testing procedures are followed.
Data entry and reporting:
Entering employee information into HR systems and generating reports as needed.
Administrative tasks:
Answering phone calls, managing email inquiries, scheduling meetings, and maintaining office supplies.
Required skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented with high accuracy in data entry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Basic understanding of employment laws and HR practices
Reports to:
Direct Report - Director of Environmental, Health and Safety
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
