Superior Fabrication Company, LLC, located in the beautiful upper peninsula of Michigan, is looking to grow our team with a Steel Fabrication Manufacturing Estimator.
This position is responsible for evaluating project specifications, analyzing costs, and preparing accurate estimates for steel fabrication and manufacturing projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of steel materials and fabrication processes, and the ability to work closely with clients, engineers, and project managers to ensure accurate cost assessments and competitive bids.
Essential Job Functions
· Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed cost estimates for steel manufacturing and fabrication projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
· Material & Labor Analysis: Analyze blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings to determine material requirements, fabrication processes, and labor costs.
· Vendor & Supplier Coordination: Source quotes from material suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
· Project Evaluation: Assess project scope, risks, and potential challenges to provide accurate cost projections.
· Proposal Development: Prepare and submit bid proposals, ensuring they align with client requirements and industry standards.
· Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to refine estimates and ensure alignment with project goals.
· Cost Tracking: Monitor project costs and update estimates as needed to reflect changes in scope or market conditions.
· Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, material pricing, and labor costs to maintain competitive estimates.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in steel fabrication, manufacturing, or construction estimating.
- Strong knowledge of steel materials and fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred
- Experience with CAD software or project management tools preferred
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to steel manufacturing preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
