Position Title : Human Resource Director

FLSA Job Status : Non-exempt, part time

Base Pay Rate : Salary is open and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Working Hours : Monday-Friday, minimum of 40 hours / week, which may include overtime when necessary and may include evenings and weekends.

Location : Main office and additional locations for necessary meetings and training

Position Purpose and General Summary :

Maintains and enhances the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. Responsible for hiring, Human Resources Management, Benefits Administration, ACA, Workers Compensation, Performance Management, Communication Processes, Compensation and Wage Structure, Supports Diversity, Classifying Employees, Employment Law, Laws Against Sexual Harassment, Organization and other duties as deemed necessary by the Administration.

Education and Experience :

  • A bachelor’s degree in HR and four years of experience in Human Resources, or
  • A master’s degree in HR and two years of experience in Human Resources.
  • SHRM or SPHR certification preferred.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintain staff by establishing recruiting, screening, and interviewing candidates. Collaborate with administration on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.
  • Prepare newly hired employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation by reviewing SHS policies, procedures, and handbook materials. Explain benefits package, scheduling and training programs.
  • Prepare new hire paperwork, verify documentation and SHS system(s).
  • Report on new hires to state.
  • Follow through with all government agencies and provide requested information regarding benefits and employment.
  • Correspond to unemployment requests, maintain all UC files, and attend UC hearings.
  • Distribute necessary information to staff via memos or posts and help to ensure all staff have been made aware of important updates to information.
  • Maintain current data on pay scales for human services and complete surveys as needed.
  • Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training house leaders to coach employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Track and monitor employee attendance.
  • Coordinate all requests for extended leaves of absence (i.e. medical leave), complete required documentation, and be a liaison between staff and schedulers to ensure that leave is granted accordingly.
  • Receive, process (engage in the interactive process to help determine reasonable accommodation), and certify all job accommodation requests from employees.
  • Address performance and attendance issues with staff and maintain necessary documentation.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Residential Services, create, implement, and track performance improvement plans.
  • Participate in staff meetings and maintain accurate notes for these meetings. Send monthly notes to necessary parties.
  • Complete termination processes for all voluntary and involuntary terminations.
  • Track and maintain records of employee requirements (such as drivers’ license, car insurance, registration, MVR, physicals, etc.). Notify employees in advance when updated information is needed.
  • Maintain employee benefits programs and inform employees of benefits. Study and assess benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; recommending benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Work with outside agencies on all aspects of benefits and insurances from renewal to implementation and following up as needed.
  • Track and complete all information necessary to accurately and timely file all ACA reports and paperwork (when applicable).
  • File all workers’ compensation claims and follow through on all correspondences. Act as a liaison between the employee and the workers’ compensation carrier.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state laws and requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; and representing the organization at hearings.
  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures, as well as the employee handbook
  • Maintain historical human resource records by designing filing and retrieval systems, keeping past and current records. Follows appropriate Purge List for company files.
  • Maintain and expand professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Work independently to ensure smooth operation for the administration and a resource for employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Work Environment :

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
