Industrial Custodian

We are currently seeking an Industrial Custodian to join our Indianapolis facility located at 400 W Regent St, Indianapolis.  This role will provide general cleaning and light maintenance to a facility that takes pride in its appearance.  This position is a perfect fit for someone who takes pride in what they do and wants to contribute to a team environment.

• Schedule: This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with half-day shifts every other Saturday. There is some flexibility in scheduling to accommodate needs.
• Pay: Starting at $20.00/hr.
• Benefits: Medical premiums are either 100% company-paid or significantly reduced, depending upon the plan chosen (see attached benefits overview)
• PPE: We have an allowance for safety shoes and uniforms are provided.

Responsibilities include:

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum building floors to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
• Operate a forklift to relocate pallets or other materials for area cleaning, then return them to their designated positions.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces for a polished and professional appearance.
• Ensure restrooms are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and well-stocked with supplies.
• Remove waste, empty trash bins, and dispose of debris promptly.
• Maintain a cleaning log, detailing the areas cleaned and inspected for accountability.
• Replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations.
• Keep janitorial storage areas organized and well-stocked for efficient access to materials.
• Manage relationships with external contractors, including landscapers, cleaning services, and vending providers.
• Maintain accurate records and inspection schedules for vital safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and eyewash stations.
• Report unsafe conditions or needed repairs through the e-maintenance work request system to ensure timely attention.
• Ensure outdoor areas remain free of trash, debris, and hazards.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance team to ensure prompt snow removal and ice treatment during winter.
• Perform other tasks as assigned to maintain a clean, safe, and well-presented facility.
• Serve as a temporary backup for the security guard during lunch breaks and short periods of PTO.
• Work closely with the maintenance team to keep the plant clean and running smoothly for the best performance and safety.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Previous maintenance or industrial custodial experience required

Candidates should possess:

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Must be able to do physical work and operate power equipment normally found in janitorial operations
• Ability to observe safety and security procedures and to comply with policies
• Ability to read and interpret written information; ability to write clear statements; ability to communicate orally
• Extreme attention to detail & willingness to own the presentation of the facility at all times
• Ability to follow schedules and keep commitments
• Ability to follow directions from a supervisor
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism
• Must be able to manage time efficiently and to work individually as well as within a team
