Job Summary:
Superior Machine & Tool, a manufacturing business in Fort Wayne, IN, is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer. This full-time, day-shift position requires experience in programming and operating CNC mills, particularly Haas, Brother, and DMG Mori machines. Expertise in Mastercam is highly recommended. A strong focus on quality, process improvement, and teamwork is essential.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Develop, test, and maintain efficient CNC programs using Mastercam CAD/CAM software.
· Perform machine setups, including work offsets, tooling, and part alignment, to ensure precision machining.
· Improve production processes by optimizing tooling, programming techniques, and workflow.
· Read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T specifications, to ensure accurate manufacturing.
· Operate and troubleshoot CNC equipment during the production of parts from materials such as aluminum, steel, and stainless steel.
· Utilize precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to verify part accuracy.
· Maintain shop travelers and update them as processes are revised or optimized.
· Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· CAD Proficiency: 3D modeling and drafting experience using industry-standard CAD software.
· CNC Programming: Mastery of G-code and M-code programming for CNC mills and lathes.
· Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret technical drawings, including GD&T notations.
· Federal and State Laws: Ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
· Precision Measurement: Expertise in using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other instruments.
· Communication and Teamwork: Strong ability to work as part of a team, train others, and communicate effectively.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
· CAM Programming:Advanced programming skills in Mastercam (highly recommended).
· Tooling and Materials: Understanding of cutting tools, materials, and speeds/feeds for diverse metals.
· ERP Systems: Familiarity with JobBOSS for production labor entries.
· Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of workflow optimization and waste reduction principles.
· Quality Control: Experience in applying precision inspection techniques and troubleshooting production issues.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience.
· At least 3 years of experience in CAD and CAM programming.
· Demonstrated experience in programming and machining various materials.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and familiarity with JobBOSS (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and performing repetitive tasks in a machine shop environment.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
· Visual acuity to inspect parts, read blueprints, and operate machinery.
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
