What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Superior Nut & Candy Co., Inc.?
Outcome: TheBuyer purchases materials used in the production of our products; including raw materials, commodities, supplies, or equipment for a business. Will assist with supplier selection/management, negotiating deals, researching possible item selections, non-direct materials related spend, special projects, and managing material inventory.
Job Expectations:
- Evaluate the market landscape to find the best product within the company’s budget.
- Negotiate a price and/or contract with the suppliers, track the order’s progress after purchasing it, then add this item to their inventory.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and enhanced efficiency.
- Monitor and respond to changes in market conditions that may impact supply including disruptions and develop mitigation strategies.
- Analyze data to make replenishment decisions.
- Issue purchase orders for materials needed for materials and non-production items.
- Maintain materials requirement planning “MRP” software, including system maintenance for posting errors.
- Developing an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders and receipts.
- Effectively communicating with the management team for any material order delays or issues.
- Daily contact with Receiving, Scheduling, Production, and Accounts Payable Departments to ensure responsibilities are met.
- Daily contact with suppliers and logistics providers to foster strong relationships.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams, including production, sales, finance, and quality control, to ensure alignment and coordination across departments.
- Minimize excess/ aged inventory and prevent stockouts to meet customer demand.
- Manage communications for raw material inventory turns, reconciliation, and system adjustments.
- Involvement in Year End Inventory process.

- Must have experience with inventory control best practices.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in agricultural commodities and import goods.
- Experience in logistics management.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Buyer in a multi-stage manufacturing environment.
- CPSM or related certification.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
