Superior Production, LLC., a manufacturer of metal stampings, is part of a large privately owned holding company involved in various metal manufacturing processes throughout the continental United States. We provide Stamping and Machining services throughout the Midwest for a variety of customers.
With two plants in Columbus, Ohio, we service the automotive, appliance, agriculture, and heavy truck industry.
We are currently seeking a dedicated Safety Manager to join our team. As a Safety manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees by implementing and overseeing safety protocols and procedures.
The Safety Manager will manage the development, implementation, and management of all safety programs and activities.

Requirements:Essential Job Duties:
Accidents/Near Misses -· Draft and post Safety Alerts· Partner in the investigation of safety incidents to identify root causes and define continuous improvement initiatives.· Work with the respective departments to analyze the accidents and near misses.· Identify accident trends and recommend system change to reduce accidents/injuries.· Work with Plant Managers and Management to find true root causes related to safety corrective actions.
Communications/Reporting/Records/Meetings –· Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and specific training programs.· Fabrication of safety-related presentations, reports, and training information. (Using PowerPoint, Word, Excel)· This position will be required to provide a monthly report on activities to Management/Plant Managers.· Input safety training records into JJ Keller.· Research issues, events to be covered in the monthly “toolbox” meetings.· Support the area leaders in periodic safety meetings. (Die Bay / Tool & Die Makers, Machine Bay / CNC Machinist, Press Bay, etc.). Maintain an issue tracking sheet.
Compliance –· Audit safety programs, procedures, and safety manual to ensure OSHA, DOT and EPA compliance, make suggestions for improvements to management.· Ensure safety programs are compliant (Injury Illness Prevention, Hazard Identification, Hazard Control and Correction, OSHA safety regulations, policies and procedures) · Safety Data Sheets - Acquire, organize and review Safety Data Sheets to assess risks and hazards and establish proper PPE for handling Materials, Chemicals, Lubes, Oils.
Floor Presence –· Intervene in any unsafe activities or operations, coaching and mentoring those involved to eliminate unacceptable risks.· Serving as a partner and advisor to leadership on safety risk identification and avoidance.· Work with the plant managers and responsible area manager to record and track progress on items identified during Safety Walk-though audits.
Job Safety Analysis –· Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) on a periodic basis, including new equipment, new processes.· Prepare job specific safety plans for: management, new projects, and supervisors, to include OSHA and EAP safety programs and policies.
Safety Policy –· Interpret and clarify rules, regulations, and general policies as well as implement the company safety policy daily, to promote a safe work environment.· Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, accident/incident investigation protocols, and OSHA recordkeeping procedures.· PPE - Oversee the identification, selection and testing of relevant PPE within the plants.
Training –· Lock-out / Tag-out: After classroom training has been completed, observe newly trained employees following the steps covered in training. Issue the locks, update lock box and the listing of the lock’s numbers. Participate in periodic LOTO audits.· Maintain safety training documentation and facilitate safety meetings.· Propose, Develop and maintain a new training record system.· Provide a ‘train-the-trainer’ for new hire orientations. Observe and critique Callos orientations.· Train and Recertify forklift operators as needed or every three (3) years and manage forklift licenses.· Training on the night shift will need to be done during night shift hours. This typically would begin at 6:00 PM. This position will pre-plan their working hours to provide training to dayshift or nightshift.
Qualification and Education Requirements:
- Three years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA guidelines and practices
- Experience in reporting and developing policies.
- Strong verbal, written and analytical skills.
- Competence in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Able to contribute positively as part of a team, helping with various tasks as required.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus but not a requirement
