POSITION SUMMARY:
Daily Job Functions to Achieve Goals:
- Responsible for greeting customers and all personnel at the Shipping Desk.
- Prepares items for shipment (Domestic & International), using various freight carriers.
- Maintains shipping photographs of all shipments by
- Taking photographs of packaging configuration
- Downloading photographs to network location
- Renaming files to reflect Part Number and Packer #
- Assures completed material is ready for shipment to customer within the ship date identified on the packing slip and/or as communicated.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications and product is packaged in a manner that will protect it from damage during transit.
- Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
- Assembles cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
- Fastens covers on wooden crates with nails and/or screws using power tools.
- Fastens large containers with standard grade steel strapping using Steel Tensioner strapping tool.
- Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Use various freight carrier software and barcode systems to generate applicable shipping documents and labels.
- Ensure the proper commercial and customs invoices accompany each shipment.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons identifying shipping information on cartons
- Operates forklift trucks or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments to and from delivery vehicles and shipping/receiving to storage or work area.
- Loads materials to customer & freight delivery vehicles using the company forklift.
- Organizes (6S) all Shipping areas and ensure shop cleanliness
- Maintain a 48hr monthly average cycle time through Shipping Work Center.
- Records all direct and indirect labor performed using the ERP system and traveler to work on jobs and indirect codes for other related duties.
Weekly Job Functions to Achieve Goals:
1. Maintains inventory of shipping/identification materials and supplies.
As Necessary:
- Assume various other duties as delineated by the Quality Systems Supervisor.
- Occasionally receives and identifies parts, supplies and tooling from customers and freight carriers.
- Identify and act upon areas of needed improvement.
- Assist with all other quality functions by teaming up with other employees.
- Assists with product identification as needed.
- Routes items to other departments.
- May be required to drive the company truck for pickup and delivery from time to time.
- Assist in other QC related duties such as but not limited to: Receiving, visual inspections, and help in identification/packaging etc.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma is required.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook and common freight carrier software programs).
- Must have a high regard for attention to detail and take ownership and pride in their work.
- Multitasking ability is required.
- Organizational and ability to manage time effectively to meet fast paced demands is required.
- Ability to speak, comprehend, read & write English fluently is required.
- Shipping and receiving experience in the aerospace industry experience is desired.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish desired.
- Experience with Computers and Avery Label software is desired.
- Prior forklift operation experience/certification is desired.
