The VP of Accounting and Finance is a key member of the executive team, responsible for driving financial excellence and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management: Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the annual budgeting process, develop financial forecasts, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Cost Accounting: Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, analyze production costs, and manage inventory levels.
- Capital Budgeting: Plan, budget, report, and analyze capital expenditures and projects with the operations team.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. Oversee tax reporting and optimize tax strategies (including R&D tax credits).
- Treasury Management: Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and investment strategies.
- Risk Management: Analyze and negotiate insurance coverage for property, casualty, workers' compensation, and health.
- Accounting Compliance: Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards and internal control procedures. Coordinate internal activities for external audits.
- Leadership & Team Management: Provide leadership and direction to the finance and accounting team, including the controller, cost accountant, and accounts payable/receivable staff. Foster a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and execution of the company's strategic plan.
- Employee Incentive Programs: Administer the Superior Executive Equity program and the annual Superior company performance bonus program.
- Contract Review: Review customer and vendor supply agreements to assess financial risks and opportunities.
- Business Continuity Planning: Develop and maintain business continuity plans to ensure the company's financial stability in the event of disruptions.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Direct reports include the accounting team including the controller, staff accountant, cost accountant, AP/AR, Invoicing, clerks and administrative assistants. The Vice President of Accounting and Finance leads the monthly company-wide financial review and participates in the monthly executive committee review.
