Overview:
Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual looking to make a difference? As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in providing support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or autism. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Duties:
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, shopping and doctor appointments.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to individuals
- Implement individualized care plans and support goals
- Promote independence and community integration for individuals
- Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals at all times
- Document and report any changes in behavior or health status
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure their dignity is maintained
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license
- Must be 18 years of age
- Provide a personal vehicle to transport clients within the community.
- Must have High School diploma or GED
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or autism is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature
Note:
This position requires you to frequently stand, walk, climb stairs, squat, and bend. Must routinely lift 20 lbs or more. Must also assist with lifting individuals, and have the ability to monitor vital signs.
