Position Summary:

As the Equipment Control, your attention to the small details and strong work ethic will ensure our operations continue to run smoothly. This role will be responsible for managing, tracking, and monitoring the performance of chassis, and empty containers with the objective of analyzing daily, weekly, and monthly equipment utilization. Develop recommendations and strategies to minimize operational costs related to per diem. Also coordinate, account for, and control equipment movements across entry and exit points for accurate reporting. This position requires working closely with dispatch, and customer service.
- Provide timely reports when requested, and with precision; investigate and manage any variance.
- Manage the planning of strategies for returning equipment to the terminal based on availability, port terminal receiving schedules, and LFD.
- Become effective in the company’s Transportation Management System (TMS), and Yard Management System (YMS).
- Coordinate the usage and rental of Supra's own chassis pool for billing, and financial tracking.
- Communicate with customers and Accounts Receivable regarding invoice discrepancies or other customer concerns related to equipment utilization.
- Meet designated key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Responsible for managing the Equipment Control email
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs to equipment with fleet department
- Communicate using cellular telephone or 2-way radio with dispatch, operations, and plant personnel.
- Comply with equipment interchange rules according the UIIA agreement.
- Become proficient and monitor the operations through our Integrated Truck Accessorial Technology (TAT): Geotab – GPS Tool, Geofencing and Chassis Tracking.
- Other tasks and duties, as assigned.
Experience:
- Two or more years of experience in working with a team.
- In depth knowledge of fleet safety with DOT federal/state guidelines and other safety related certifications preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Skills and Abilities:
- Have the ability of working at heights of up to 75 feet. Perform manual labor involving lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking, pushing, and pulling.
- Be in good physical condition with excellent peripheral vision, night vision, depth perception, can distinguish colors, and have good hearing. Vision requirements:
- Visual acuity of 20/40 with or without corrective lenses for each eye, minimum depth perception of 6/9, and minimum peripheral vision of 70 degrees for each eye.
- Must have good eye-hand-foot coordination, the ability to follow instructions, and perform routine, repetitive work.
- Must have the ability to work in and make the work adjustment according to changes occurring in various weather conditions i.e., hot, cold, humid, wet, etc. Carry the ability to successfully complete training on new technology, as automation is introduced into the job.
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have experience in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
