Product Development Scientist

POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

This scientist will be responsible for developing and validating methods to support manufacturing and new products; instrumentation or equipment set up, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration and validation and writing and updating SOP’s , and training other chemists in the lab.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES:

• Performs technical support for new product, to ensure product is ready for production run
• Creates the MBR an PBR’s for production runs
• Troubleshoots any issues related to the materials of the product run
• Finds solutions to help machines run better for the product run
• Coordinates with production supervisor on the encap production runs
• Approves all changes to MBR and PBR’s
• Gather and compile supplier documentation

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:

• Undergraduate degree in Food Science with 3-5 years experience in related field
• Related manufacturing experience (5 years) primarily encapsulation

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form
• High ethical standards with the ability to maintain confidentiality of information
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and communications skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Must be able to follow all safety guidelines
  
  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Laboratory environment which may include long hours standing, sitting, bending, twisting, walking, climbing stairs, strong and/or unusual odors
