What You'll Do
Operational Oversight:
Assists Director of Building Services in the management of daily operations of Facilities, ensuring high standards of safety, cleanliness, and functionality.
Assists with the coordination and supervision of the departments within Facilities.
Establishes the repair, maintenance, and renovation of space and equipment within Facilities.
Develops and implements preventive maintenance and safety programs.
Team Leadership
Leads and manages Facilities staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and development.
Fosters a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and professional growth.
Possess upstanding character traits and work ethic, including sound judgement, honesty, dependability, and loyalty to the organization.
Budget Management
Assists in the preparation and management of the Facilities budget.
Monitors expenses and ensures cost-effective practices.
Identifies opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
Oversees the Facilites staff contract production and work product.
Compliance And Safety
Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to building codes, safety, and environmental standards.
Conducts regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Develops and enforces safety policies and procedures.
Project Management
Assists in the planning and oversight of facility improvement projects, from conception to completion.
Coordinates with engineers, architects, designers, contractors, vendors, staff, and other professionals to ensure proper planning, documentation, verification of work on projects and that they are completed on time and within budget.
Maintains detailed records and documentation of all Facilities projects and submits accurate reports to the Director of Building Services.
Customer Service
Serves as a liaison between Facilities and other departments, addressing and resolving facility-related issues.
Ensures timely and effective response to service requests and emergencies.
Strives to enhance the overall user experience of the Supreme Court of Ohio.
Strategic Planning
Works with the Director of Building Services on the development and implementation of long-term facilities plans that align with the organization’s goals.
Conducts studies on future sustainability and makes recommendations for future facility needs.
Other Responsibilities
Acts on behalf of the Director of Building Services upon the Director’s unavailability or as otherwise required. Informs Director of special office needs and proposes solutions.
Specific Technical Responsibilities
Utilizes Alerton BACnet building management system to monitor and control HVAC so as to provide consistent comfort while reducing wasted energy.
Utilizes Micro Main Computerized Maintenance Management System so that equipment is properly maintained and repaired and so that the Court has accurate and accessible records to allow for analysis of equipment condition and analysis of training and effectiveness of both in-house and contracted workers.
Utilizes and augments lighting control systems to keep lighting energy use to a minimum while providing light when and where needed.
Further develops and implements building monitoring system remote access and alarm capabilities to allow for quick and effective action to prevent unnecessary damage and to maintain proper operation.
Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Certification through IFMA, BOMA or other Facilities Management related organization or other technical training certification is preferred.
Six or more years of experience managing large, high-end facilities with complex HVAC, fire sprinkler systems, energy management and alarm systems, and internal work groups and projects for same.
Four or more years managing complex construction, renovation or restoration projects and/or large commercial HVAC, elevator or other mechanical/electrical projects and knowledge of OSHA regulations and application of building codes is required.
Five or more years of experience leading and managing maintenance operational team members, understanding and guiding their work is required.
Significant knowledge of centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, variable frequency drive pumping systems, air handling systems and controls.
Experience with high rises, historical facilities, and commercial furniture systems is preferred.
Experience and understanding of Facilities Management best practices.
Strong Interpersonal, Communication And Leadership Skills Required.
CAD literacy is a plus. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
