The Support Specialist will work collaboratively with clients to develop effective strategies for overcoming obstacles and achieving personal goals.
Duties
- Client Support and Engagement: Provide one-on-one and group support to clients, fostering a safe and trusting environment. Utilize personal recovery experience to offer guidance, share coping strategies, and build hope.
- Advocacy and Empowerment: Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the organization and the broader community. Empower clients to voice their preferences and goals in their recovery journey.
- Recovery Planning: Assist clients in developing and implementing personal recovery plans. Collaborate with mental health professionals to ensure coordinated care that aligns with clients' objectives.
- Crisis Support: Provide support during crisis situations, employing de-escalation techniques and coordinating with mental health professionals as needed.
- Resource Connection: Help clients identify and access community resources, including mental health services, housing, employment, and educational opportunities.
- Group Facilitation: Lead or co-lead peer support groups, workshops, or educational sessions on topics relevant to mental health and recovery.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions with clients. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in peer support and mental health.
- Feedback and Collaboration: Provide feedback to the organization on program effectiveness and collaborate with the team to improve service delivery.
- Outreach and Engagement: Participate in community outreach activities to promote awareness of Peer Recovery, 365's services and the value of peer support.Provide one-on-one support to clients, offering guidance and resources tailored to their specific needs.
Requirements
- Personal experience in recovery from mental health challenges.
- Work may include both office-based and community settings.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends may be required.
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist, or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit empathy and respect for diverse individuals.
- Basic computer literacy and administrative skills.
- A commitment to a person-centered approach to mental health recovery.

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 20 per week
