What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance / Houseman Position position at Surfside Hotel?
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the hotel’s public areas and ensuring that all facilities are in optimal working condition. The role requires a proactive approach to maintenance, repairs, and assisting with hotel operations to ensure a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our guests. This position will start as a day position and transition to an evening position once the season gets started.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Maintenance & Repairs:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairing fixtures, furniture, plumbing, lighting, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Troubleshoot and address minor mechanical or electrical issues in guest rooms, common areas, and hotel facilities.
- Ensure all hotel equipment, including heating/cooling systems, lifts, and appliances, is in working order.
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs to avoid unexpected repairs.
- Housekeeping Support:
- Assist housekeeping staff with cleaning duties as needed, including restocking supplies, ensuring guest rooms are ready for occupancy, and maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.
- Remove trash and recycling from common areas and transport it to designated disposal areas.
- Maintain hotel lobbies, hallways, staircases, and outdoor areas to ensure they are clean, safe, and inviting.
- Customer Service & Safety:
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Ensure that all maintenance work is done safely and in compliance with hotel and legal standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety standards and hotel policies.
- Additional Duties:
- Assist in setting up or moving furniture for events, meetings, or other hotel functions as needed.
- Provide support during hotel inspections and work with management to address any identified concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager or hotel leadership team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
