The surgery scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling all surgical procedures within a healthcare facility, ensuring accurate patient information is collected, verifying insurance coverage, communicating with patients and physicians, and managing the surgical schedule to optimize efficiency, all while adhering to established guidelines and protocols.
- Coordinate with hospitals and outpatient surgery centers to schedule surgeries and procedures across multiple physicians and locations.
- Collect, verify, and update patient information, including demographics, medical history, insurance details, and any required pre-operative testing.
- Identify and flag "out-of-network" insurance information in the system.
- Ensure patients sign the "Advanced Beneficiary Notice" (ABN) for non-covered procedures, if not already obtained.
- Provide patients with pre-operative instructions, post-operative care guidelines, and details on necessary follow-up appointments.
- Inform patients of any potential deductible or co-insurance payments due and arrange for payment prior to the procedure.
- Accurately input patient data into electronic medical records and maintain detailed surgical scheduling logs. Coordinate all necessary paperwork for surgeries.
- Assist the Site Manager with various tasks, including answering phones, front desk duties, and other tasks as assigned.
- Follow all policies and guidelines set by Surgical Specialists of Charlotte, as well as OSHA and HIPAA standards.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service in all interactions with patients, clients, and staff, fulfilling both strategic and tactical responsibilities as needed.

Experience required:
- Previous surgery scheduling experience required.
- NextGen experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with general surgery preferred.
