Principal Responsibilities:
- Lead daily music programming periods with camp groups from ages 7 to 16. (Activities are 50 minutes long)
- Work with Jewish Life & Learning team to lead Shabbat services on Friday evenings, Saturday mornings, and Havdalah on Saturday evenings.
- Work with camper units to learn and prepare songs for Music Show and Visiting Days.
- Lead a guitar specialty and instruct campers on how to play guitar.
- Facilitate a dynamic song session during morning round-up on Mainside (ages 7-12).
- Infuse music and ruach (spirit) into everyday moments at camp
- Integrate new and creative songs and ideas into existing camp traditions
- Serve as a role model and provide support to campers when needed.
- Fully participate in general staff orientation and Friday specialist meetings.
- Be willing to request help, advice, and feedback from peers and/or supervisors.
- Be responsible for knowing and adhering to camp policies, procedures, safety, and emergency policies.
- Help prepare camp for opening at beginning of summer and final clean up at end of summer.
- Be consistent. Remember that you, too, are worthy of rest and renewal. Take care of yourself.
Minimum Qualifications:
Patience, love of music, kids and camp!
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- Previous experience working with children, ideally in an informal setting.
- Experience with teaching music and/or guitar.
- Ability to lead group activities and provide clear instructions.
- Strong organizational, communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to fostering a community that celebrates inclusivity and camp values.
- Be flexible with the changing needs of the program.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
