Surrozen was founded by five leading-edge scientists: K. Christopher Garcia, Ph.D., Roel Nusse, Ph.D. and Calvin Kuo, M.D., Ph.D. from Stanford University; Claudia Janda, Ph.D. from the Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology; and Hans Clevers, M.D, Ph.D. from the Hubrecht Institute and Princess Maxima Center. We are seeking a creative, self-motivated individual with a passion for experimental science to join our team. The In vivo Pharmacology Research Associate position is a great opportunity to work in cutting edge science to support and accelerate therapeutic discovery for regenerative medicine.
Responsibilities
• Help develop and implement disease and injury models for characterization of lead molecules
• Conduct independent in vivo studies and contribute to collaborative activities
• Perform extensive hands-on in vivo work including animal handling, compound administration, surgical procedures, and tissue collection
• Perform tissue sample analysis such as ELISA, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, and imaging
• Work collaboratively within a small team and across multi-disciplinary teams of research associates and scientists
• Maintain accurate, well-organized experimental records, perform data analysis, organize and communicate the results to team members, and present research progress at team and departmental meetings
* Position is 100% on-site - Monday through Friday
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in molecular biology, cell biology, neuroscience, or related biological discipline with hands-on research experience in either an academic lab or company setting
• 0-5 years of experience
• Experience with rodent handling, restraining, and dosing is required
• Technical expertise and experience in pre-clinical ophthalmology in vivo techniques including FA, OCT, ERG and ocular injection is desirable
• Proficiency in standard biological laboratory techniques, including hands-on experience with DNA, RNA extraction, PCR, ELISA, Western blot, immunostaining, and microscopy
• Demonstrated ability to learn, understand and independently implement new techniques or platforms
• Commitment to experimental excellence and scientific rigor
• Proficiency in using professional data analysis and visualization software such as Excel and GraphPad Prism
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Strong motivation and passion for science
• High level of organizational skills to support multiple projects in matrix environment
