Survivor Empowerment Center (founded in 1972 as The Women’s Center) seeks a Lead Crisis Intervention Specialist for the Domestic Violence Program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manages the Crisis Hotline Services using a team management approach and supervises Crisis Workers, Night Staff, and interns, and volunteers who work at the crisis desk during her shift.
- Meets with Shelter Program residents as needed and documents all client contact for inclusion in the data collection system.
- Participates in go-outs and responds to local treatment hospitals to assist survivors of sexual assault.
- Ensures that the Crisis Department is clean, coordinates all maintenance with the Maintenance Manager, and coordinates all major monthly cleanings of the shelter facility with the residents.
- In consultation with the Program Manager/Residential Manager, identify goals and objectives that help ensure a safe, healthy, and respectful living environment within the Shelter and address Crisis and Shelter needs in a timely manner.
- Represents Survivor Empowerment Center’s Crisis Hotline with ICADV, other domestic violence groups, provides community education and networks with other agencies that interact with victims of domestic violence as requested and time permits.
- Measures program quality and effectiveness through the development of and timely review of outcome measures and client evaluations.
- Performs personnel-related activities for the Crisis Hotline staff, interns, and volunteers under her/his supervision, which include conducting appropriate and adequate training, performance evaluations, supervisions, reviewing timesheets for accuracy, and forwarding them to the Program Manager/Residential Manager and the Program Coordinator for review, reviewing job descriptions at least annually to ensure they are accurate and up to date, interviewing potential employees, and communicating to the Program Manager/Residential Manager any Shelter Program or personnel-related issues.
- Assists with supervising volunteers for the Domestic Violence Shelter Program and participates in volunteer training.
- Assists with facilitating the 40-hour training.
- Evaluates current Crisis Hotline policies and procedures and recommends modifications as needed to the Program Manager/Residential Manager and the Program Coordinator.
- Attends all Domestic Violence/Shelter Committee meetings.
- Provides written reports to the Program Manager/Residential Manager and Program Coordinator in a timely manner to be included in the monthly Board Packet.
- Assists the program manager/residential manager and program coordinator in ensuring data entry.
- Assists the Domestic Violence Program Coordinator to ensure the Shelter Program's compliance with all grant requirements, applicable federal, state, and local laws, and all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Survivor Empowerment Center.
- Manages software applications relating to scheduling and employee communication.
- Shares on-call responsibilities with the Program Manager/Residential Manager.
- Responds to go-outs, if needed.
- Assists crisis desk when referring clients out of the shelter program.
- Performs typing and filing associated with outlined duties.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and relevant experience or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of sexual assault/domestic violence issues and previous training on those issues preferred
- Domestic Violence Professional Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of The Survivor Empowerment Center’s policies and procedures preferred
- Strong people and organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and give attention to detail
- Skills in public speaking helpful
- Supervisory skills, previous supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to communicate orally in conversation both in person and by telephone
- Ability to work well with people from a variety of racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, sexual orientation, and age groups, and with differently-abled individuals
- Ability to deal with stress-related situations
- Ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to embrace the concept of teamwork
- Must have a demonstrated commitment to women and non-violence through previous volunteer work or employment preferred
- Willingness to complete the required 72 hours of training for the position within 6-months of employment
- Must be willing to work varying shifts
- Must have a current driver’s license, own vehicle with current automobile insurance, and willingness to travel
