Overview
As an Index Rebalance Analyst on SIG’s Research team, you will partner with our research analysts and traders to identify investment opportunities in the equity or options market. You will be responsible for finding opportunities that other market participants may not be capitalizing on, either by discovering new information or considering existing knowledge from a different perspective. Analysts are embedded in a strategy-focused trading desk and the analysis you provide will directly impact trading decisions.
In the role you will be:
- Tracking and predicting index rebalances
- Building and maintaining index models and databases
- Searching for trading angles and ideas, broadening the desk’s opportunity set
- Analysing Index rules and the effects of their implementation
- Examining special situations such as M&A and other corporate actions
- Providing opinion on breaking news
- Identifying and analyzing upcoming volatility and liquidity events
- Collaborating with traders on investment ideas
- Carrying out project work
What we’re looking for
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 2 years’ experience in financial markets or progress towards CFA or similar qualification an advantage
- Familiarity with a trading environment and index products preferred
- Competence in Excel, VBA, SQL, Python and Access an advantage
- Strong written, analytical, and financial research skills
- Demonstrable interest in, and some knowledge of, macroeconomic environment, political events and market themes
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Must be a self-starter, driven, a quick learner, an effective communicator, and resourceful in solving problems
- Willingness to work additional and flexible hours when necessary
